HAAAAAAAAAAA - World Cup is here to stay. The Danish 2-1 victory against Uruguay yesterday gives good hopes for the coming month. Big screen at work - and I have to buy the national team shirt now. Tomasson really surprised me by scoring 2 goals on 2 chances - normally he scores 1 for every 5 chances... A bit pissed, that this mornings match between Argentina and Nigeria is not available on any of my cable TV stations - luckily FIFA's very detailed MatchCast works now (it never worked during the opening game), and it's worth using during work hours.

My blogging is inconsistent at the moment. Due to a lot of work and quite an amount of lazyness combined with fairly OK weather results in low-internet-use...but that's a good thing. Rather enjoy the summer than using all day at the keyboard.

Looking forward to another ecxiting weekend - particularly the first World Cup match with the Danish national team against Uruguay Saturday morning. Can we repeat the 6-1 victory from 1986 World Cup in Mexico???

Hrmpf - the weather today was perfect, 20 degrees celsius, sun shining and almost no wind, and I felt fine from the start. But my 5th Copenhagen Marathon turned out be less fun than the previous ones - and I didn't finish the run. From 14 km I had problems in my left foot and from 20 km I started limping. I continued the planned pace until 25 km, and ran another 5 km very slowly before I decided to stop at Trianglen (less than 1 km from my flat)... I don't wan't to finish in a bad time and risk damaging my foot. It's the first time I quit a marathon - strange feeling - but hopefully a wise decision! My friend Mogens - who expected to finish in 3 hours 15 minutes - actually overperformed and show up at the goal line in 3 hours 9 minutes. CONGRATULATIONS, Monzi...

Tomorrow's the day.

I'm almost ready to Copenhagen Marathon. The last few days I've been eating pasta, tuna and bananas all day long - and right now I'm 'loading' the body with liquid - obscure drinks with names like H5 and Maxim.

Tomorrow morning at 6 am I'll eat a bunch of cereal, drink another liter of Maxim and go to bed again - and at 9.30 am it's time to run.

Hopefully I've finished approximately 3 hours 45 minutes later after a journey in Copenhagen Sunday morning quietness with 6.000 other runners. My friend, Mogens, who've never finished Copenhagen Marathon before, will expectedly finish in app. 3 hours 15 minutes...hate that guy.

Go see for yourself - we'll be all over town: Start at the City Hall, then Vesterbro, City, Nørrebro, Østerbro and finishing at the City Hall. Cheer me up on the streets: Look for a guy in a white shirt (I'll probably be the only one in that color 8-) with no. 3898....very easy!!!

Got a question from Ingrid whether I liked Zirkus Nemo the other night....and certainly YES. Søren Østergaard is one of my absolute favourites and particularly his act as a tired bakerman from Fyn making ballet with 8 "tarteletter" (Danish obscure eat: Breadshell with chicken filling) on a table was hilarious. If you like crazy comedy - I say: Go for it!

Tuesday I left for Århus to stay the night at my brother, Leif. Had delicious and quite cheap dinner at a cafe and joined Leif to his usual Tuesday night-thing: Quiz-night at a bar. And of course: We won the first prize of a grand total worth of 150 kr. beer!

Wednesday I had the possibility of showing visitdenmark.com to a meeting with people from Feriepartner Danmark at Odder Park Hotel. Nice people - and nice place. For the first time I tried to do the presentation almost entirely online - and I'm looking forward to getting feedback whether it is worth doing in the future, too.

Busy, relaxing and fun. That must be my description of this weekend so far... Started out Friday night at Østerbro French-speaking cafe, Figaro Bistrot Vinbar. I think Linda and I were the only Danish-speaking present - nice atmosphere, dreamt of sitting at cafe in Paris. Saturday was summerday of 2002 no. 1! Hot sun enjoyed in Fælledparken and a 15 km run in the heat - and then off for a cozy dinner at Hjørdis, Linda's aunt.

Got 1 hour of sun to much, so the cloudy and rainy Sunday was almost a relief. Had a great brunch (only 65 kr. - coffee/the included - very cheap) at Bang & Jensen. Nice beeing at a place that does not automatically include lots of infants with mothers - that's what it's like at Østerbro cafes! Went to the theatre to see Storytelling - a very different kind of movie. You DON'T get what you expect of an ordinary movie - it's splitted up in two separate stories, "Fiction" and "Non-fiction". And actually you can say, that none of them is either fiction or non-fiction - they are both! I can highly recommend the movie - but don't expect to see any of the caracters beeing treated well by life.... Sunday night in Rungsted with friends, great food and red wine. What more is there to say?

But one thing is sure: Tonight I'll relax like h*** - no reading, writing or anything like that. Linda sent me a link to this interesting essay (in english) by Danish writer, Klaus Rifbjerg: Denmark - Oh! To be Danish. Rifbjerg writes about Denmark - present and past, and tries to explain and show what a Dane are like.

He writes: "The Danes were not the same people in the 13th century or in the 19th century, just as the Danes who live on the west coast of Jutland are not like the ones who live on Stevns, and we can safely say that the people living in Copenhagen are quite unlike any others." Where does that leave me, as an "immigrant" to Copenhagen from the Western Jutland!? I often wonder about my own identity in this connection - if I stay in Copenhagen for 20 years, will I still see myself as Western-Jutland-guy? - or would I be fully "integrated"? ...perhaps I should send a mail to right-wing-bulls**t-woman, Pia Kjærsgaard - she's seems to know all about it! 8-)

Been sitting in my new office for a week now - but I've been so busy that I haven't realised how great the view is: From 8th floor at Vesterbrogade have a great sight at Hovedbanegården and a great part of Vesterbro roofs. Further away I have a glimpse of the harbour. Hope I'll soon get more time to enjoy the sunny roofs of Copenhagen. Hm - better finish work today, go home for some for food and go on to Monzi for the CL-final...

Time needed. Weather this weekend was to good - I'm way behind with a lot of things 'cause of my casual attitude this weekend: Sun bathing, running, relaxing in the park with great music (Saybia), 10 hour sleep 'till Sunday morning, rollerscating and of course watching football almost all Sunday... Hmmmmm - it's summer. Surprisingly the weather today turned out to be brilliant - no rain or anything - but lots of sun. Saw one of my friends, Kure, participating in athletic competition at Østerbro Stadium (quite interesting, actually), enjoyed the sun in Fælledparken for some time and just now I've finished a way-to-hot 20 km run, which probably will be the last long run before the marathon. In the next two weeks most of my time and energy seems to be concentrated on work and preparing for marathon...but I think I'll drop by today's Rockshow in Fælledparken - Saybia and TV-2 will be on stage in the next hours. What a nice day! 8-)

It's really strange how I every spring get amazed about the birds singing, the light green leafs on trees and all other warmth-related things. A 18 km run in Utterslev Mose this morning was nothing but pure joy - well, except the fact that I did'nt run well. No need to worry, I still got 2 weeks before running Copenhagen Marathon...better not drink any beer at today's football Cup Final in Parken between FCK and OB.

Do you know the feeling? Been extremely busy all week - at work, seeing friends, running etc. - and now I'm not able to step outside for a walk because of laziness... By the way: Yesterdays 18 km run was really tough for me. Only extraordinary "traffic-light-luck" helped me get all the way home with my group at a speed of 5 minutes pr. km. But there's no way out now - I paid 320 kr. to Copenhagen Marathon yesterday, so in exactly 3 weeks I'll drag myself around the streets of Copenhagen. I can't wait....

Wow, my stomach sucks right now. 10 guys running around on 6 bars in Østerbro, Copenhagen is dangerous - but great fun! To our surprise many of the bars were way beyond expected levels of comfort - actually a bit disappointing, while were looking for old, forgotten and strange places. Gotta clean up the apartment, take a nap and unfortunately train for Copenhagen Marathon at 2 pm today - 18 km, I think. Looking forward to Linda's return from Russia tomorrow morning.

Almost forgot: Today, finally, my new job as E-business Manager in The Danish Tourist Board was officially announced. From this day I'm responsible of our online activities (primarily visitdenmark.com) including the development of future interactive features and of course the introduction of online purchasing of danish travel products. I'm looking very much forward to working with 8 new colleagues - and of course, hopefully, implementing a lot of my ideas. 8-]

Wauw - 2 full-power-days in Fåborg fulfilled. Besides the normal "boring" office-stuff to be discussed we sailed an old wooden ship, climbed trees, ate f**king fantastic food and had some beer. Gotta elaborate on all this later when I've had a few hours sleep...
And now it's 'later'! Staying at Hotel Fåborg Fjord, it was a good break from the daily work. I've never really been around on Fyn - now I can say, that I should! The landscape is beatiful, very peaceful - and the hotel manager told, that you could buy a house with sea view for about 1 mio. DKK...in Copenhagen you can only buy 50 square meters for the same price. Target People guided us through a playful AND learning session - incredible how fast team spirit (or sometimes lack of it?) is trained and analyzed with even simple assignments - if just the coaches are competent. Last night we had dinner on Haabet (the wooden ship on this picture) - the trip started with pouring rain, but during dinner it suddenly cleared, and we had the most beatiful sunset at sea. And today we had a 2 hour energic session with a guy I did'nt like at all - well, that's before his performance today, 'cause he did well! If you're from Denmark you'll perhaps remember former Robinson contestant, Jørgen Kløcker. Choose life!

Bummer, bummer, bummer. Drove all the way to far-out-Ballerup to play a friendly game of football against another company. What happens? The Føtex-guys didn't show up. So from now on: NEVER buy your groceries there - you can't trust people ditching you when you're in the mood for playing ball....

Later today most of the company are leaving for Faaborg, Fyn. We'll be on a seminar for the next three days.

Uh, have I just been to busy today. Two meetings took almost all day. Yesterday I entirely forgot to tell that Linda and I managed to see another movie at the local theatre, Park Bio. It was last chance to use our tickets to the Bio-club Denmark-movie, Shipping News. Very nice Kevin Spacey-movie - in some ways it actually reminded me of "I am Dina" with it's very picturesque sceneries and historical flash backs.

Sunday morning I dropped Linda off at the airport. She and 30 others from The Engineering College of Copenhagen flew off to St. Petersborg in Russia. I suppose they are gonna visit companies, see churches and drink vodka! 8-)

Strange - yesterday was a banking holiday and I had plenty of time of doing nothing at all. Nevertheless I didn't find time to post anything on my blog...perhaps because nothing happened? Well, Linda and I actually did do something. We went to the theatre to see The Man Who Wasn't There. I like the peaceful and quiet way the story is told, eventhough there's drama and murders. Those Coen-guys are certainly something special - no mainstream-Hollywood-bulls**t... And Billy Bob Thornton is marvellous. If you haven't seen it yet, you have to go.

And for my own record: Grand Teater is one of the best movie theatres in Copenhagen. The audience is adult and there are cozy surroundings.

Recently we bought 4 Kronan red-painted bikes at work. Kronan is a very solid bike developed for the Swedish army many years ago. Instead of taking a cab to meetings nearby the office, now we can have a nice ride through the streets of Copenhagen and do some advertising too. Took a ride home on one of them last night, and it was really a pleasure. Eventhough it is a "slow starter" (it's quite heavy), it runs well when you have gained some speed. And it certainly makes people stare...

Yippie...once again the quarterly published real estate price growth indicates a quite good 3% increase in Copenhagen. That means that the value of our apartment is now more than 25% higher compared to when we bought it 1½ year ago. Ho-ho-ho.

The 2 year development of our visitdenmark.com has finally come to an end, and yesterday at 12 AM the site was launched. The press conference turned out fine, and afterwards we celebrated the ups and downs during the past 2 years by drinking a beer and taking a rollercoaster ride in Tivoli.

Woke up this morning, felt an urge to hear some music that I haven't heard for ages - my CD-collection directed me to a very-very-out-of-fashion Erasure-CD (it's Linda's - cross my heart ;-). Track no. 2: I love Saturday...THAT'S RIGHT! Wonderful sunshine, looking forward to this evenings Red Wine Club Dinner - a very informal dinner a few of our friends and ourselves are hosting on turn. And right now we've prepared dinner for them all - and I'm trying to imagine how bad I feel tomorrow morning at 9.30 AM at the start of a ½marathon, pheeew.

Got a very unexpected surprise today: A mail package from Australia...turned out to be a gift from our friend Jason, who visited us last summer. During his stay I showed - and translated - a couple of shows of "Casper og Mandrilaftalen", which is a no-sense but very funny Danish TV-show (you can see a limited no. of episodes on their website). We had a big laugh and Jason told us about two odd Australian TV-commentators, which he recommended us to see. And here it is: He sent us a recently released DVD with Roy and H. G.: The Ice Dream containing "highlights from the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games". On the front you can also read: "Recommended for mature audiences 15 years and over. Low level coarse language".... I've now seen ½ hour or so - and eventhough I've never seen those guys before and I don't know any of the featuring guests or athletes - I'm reeeaaally amused. Roy and H. G. are nothing but hilarious. One of their missions is to get the Games in 2010 to Smiggin Holes in Australia - I'll certainly vote for that! THANK YOU VERY MUCH, JASON! I can't wait seeing the rest!

Eventhough I live almost next door to the national stadium, Parken, I did not see much of all the trouble during the friendly between Denmark and Israel last night. I do not condone the demonstrators actions - but on the other hand: I understand how frustrated and powerless they feel against the situation in Israel/Palestine.

Yeah - Dutch in Denmark's "Webconnection" featuring ME is online. It was quite fun participating.

Oh, I almost forgot that I just replied to a recently received "family-and-friends-email-update" from my cousin, Morten, who sings in the Danish acapella-group Basix. If you haven't heard of them: Try listening to the songs (there are samples on the website) - you'll be surprised!

Attended a Get-together-evening at Carlsberg Breweries in connection with the start of Int. conference on Sports Events & Economic Impact. To my disappointment IOC President, Jaques Rogge had not arrived yet. Had a nice chat with to guys from Sportcal and a guy from the British Rugby Association (big guy, glad I did'nt receive a tackle from him ;-). First time I visited the Carlsberg Museet - big recommandations for these beautiful, old surroundings. Also tried Semper Arden ("gourmet beer") for the first time - I only think you can taste it at restaurants - wish I could buy it in the supermarket...

Made and served by Italians, prepared in a stone oven heated by special wood....if you go to Copenhagen, book a table and taste it for yourself.

The trip to Jutland this weekend resulted in visiting quite an amount of relatives: My sister Gitte and Ulrich in their new beach holiday house (btw, my niece, Maria, is hoping to get an older brother!). Afterwards dinner, sleep-over and brunch at my parents before leaving towards Copenhagen. On the way we stopped at my 90-year old grandmothers place in Humlum. Best thing happening today is, that it is time for our super-luxury installment, a 3-hour cleaning of our apartment (happens every 14 days)....life is to short for vacuuming and washing floors....

We had a nice evening with my brother from Aarhus who beated us pretty much up in a game of Jeopardy, hrmpfff, he knows way to much about art, culture and surprisingly BADMINTON! Looking forward to visiting my parents this weekend. They live in the opposite side of the country, so we've got a 4 hour drive ahead.

Starting the day at home, while I'm waiting for finally having ADSL installed in our apartment. Eventhough we bought the connection through well-functioning Cybercity, the actual installation of the line is to be done by "I-hate-them-more-than-Talibans", Teledanmark. The technician guy will show up somewhere between 7.30 and 16.00....in other words: They are forcing customers to stay home from work an entire day.

I really hope that this installation will turn out positive. We've now tried Tiscali and Teledanmark without any luck (Tiscali's ADSL were based on USB, which they apparently have big problems with - and Teledanmark would not accept us for customers, as long we are not phone line customers in their company too........need I say more).

Roundtrip ticket from Copenhagen (well, Malmö) to Paris for 800 Swedish kroner - THAT'S cheap. Gotta do that this summer. Asked my colleague in Paris for suitable accomodation, and she recommended Hotel Grandes Ecoles sitet in the Latin quarters and with a beautiful yard/garden. Otherwise Paris Hotels should be a good booking engine.

Why oh why? This danish financial company, Nykredit, has now used a ridiculous speaking dog in their TV spots for way to long. I think Nykredit finds the dog nice and cozy - I find it scary. My ears are exploding everytime I see (or hear) them....please let me get some peace - dogs CANNOT speak, and they might not know anything about loans and funding rates (but perhaps the Nykredit-dog is able of surprising me at some point!?). Besides from this harsh start of the day, there are no reason to moan. Weather is fine and I'm looking forward to a nice soccer match this evening - soar muscles are waiting once again.

Just got home from Lund. Very good conference with collegues from around the world discussing and planning the Öresund marketing project. Did a "pentathlon" last night at a cosy Swedish castle in the woods. Among the disciplines were: Shooting with arrows, axe throwing, golf putting and climbing a 12 m high pole....my hands were completely numb afterwards!

hrmpfff....posted from my home connection yesterday, but apparently Blogger ditched me. Well, in short I succeeded in running 26 km this weekend, eventhough I was pretty bashed afterwards. But the next day (Sunday) I also played 2 hours soccer with some of the guys....and I really suffer from THAT now!! I scored a few goals, but not as spectacular as the ones I saw at Parken, when FCK won 4-0 against OB....

The next two days I'll be in Lund - which a very old and cosy Swedish town - to a conference regarding marketing and product development in the Öresund region. I've once before visited Lund for a few hours, and I'm looking forward to going back. It's old University and church (from year 1085!) give beatiful, original surroundings.

Danish celeb-spotting is just way to easy at the moment. Yesterday I ran into FCK goalscorer in Thursdays match against Esbjerg Peter Møller. Just an hour later almost crashed danish smurf-look-a-like former Foreign Minister Mogens Lykketoft. Looking forward to todays 2 hour 15 minutes run - my longest run so far this year (hope I get well through it 8-). The weather is perfect, clear blue sky and almost no wind - there are NO good excuses for staying home!

After a personal best 8.1 km running I was dragged through an incredibly boring semifinal match between FCK and Esbjerg. A very cold evening with only 1 goal by FCK. At the same time some of the FCK-supporters accused me of being a Esbjerg-fan because of my Jutland accent....

Went last night to Grand Theatre to see danish movie okay - and it certainly is. Every one of the actors do a good job. If you like Italian for beginners you should go see okay. I really like Ole Ernst in his part as grumpy old dad. Had a burger in renowned burger joint, Chili, which last year won the title of City's best burger place....now it's 2002, the bun was cold and the beef way to small compared to price. I'll certainly not vote for them this year.

The reason was that these guys - who last year politely asked for another 1.500 USD - credited my account this morning.... I like that a lot!

Linda and I took a special ride with Tanja/Pihl on the "harbour busses" in Copenhagen with entertainment by Kim and Kenned from national tv's "Banjo's Likørstue".... complete insane guys making fun of old ladies entering the boat. Their guiding were - let's say - alternative! All of Christianshavn is, according to them, filled with copies of old houses which is only a hiding for zillions of marihuana-smoking people from Christiania... Fun for ½ hour - just like every thursday on DR2.

Went rollerskating yesterday at summer hot-spot no. 1: Bellevue. Felt almost like skiing again… Bought 3 shirts at Samsøe & Samsøe outlet – better remember that place.

Got a problem! My brain works at its best when I'm running (which I'm doing a lot these days...59 km this week). Ideas and good thoughts to remember is floating my brain when the endorphins run through my veins. The problem is, that I cannot remember more than a fraction of my thoughts when I return home. Mental note: Discover webenabled interface that makes it possible to "blog" directly from brain when running... This days 18 km run with my friend, Mogens, once again showed spring at its best.

Visited friends with 2 kids last night...tough job being parents, especially when they both can't sleep properly because of sickness.

Learned a new word yesterday at Linda's mothers birthday in St. Magleby: "Motorfremmede" - motor visitors! At the birthday one of the family members showed her work of typing in the diary of a relative born in 1903 - I saw some of the notes from 1924. Interesting reading, and one of the days she wrote about having motor visitors, 1 car and 4 motor cycles, apparently a rarity those days. Another funny fact was told about another relative who worked at Carlsberg years back. It was part of the salary to drink 6 (yes, six!) beers a day during work hours.... those were the days!

This morning at 8 am I ran a 12 km run in the rising sun with no wind. Had Copenhagen harbour from The Little Mermaid to Fisketorvet shopping centre (hey, this website is designed by my former colleague!) all for myself. No noise from cars, almost no other people. And this afternoon roller skates, sun bathing (with our clothes on) completed a perfect Easter spring day...

Easter - I love you! The sun is really making things easy to live right now. A few hours outside Cafe Jorden Rundt in the sun, drinking lemonade, reading..aaahhh. A short distraction by a crazy little barking dog with the looks of an overfilled ladies handbag - but in the end just nice, nice, nice.

Could I be more wrong? Rep. of Ireland 3, Denmark 0. Glad it was a friendly, but honestly we did not even deserve a goal in this match. With the exception of goalkeeper Thomas Sørensen, the guys played exceptionally bad. Well - does'nt matter. Last night I also enjoyed life and the Easter holiday with my girlfriend, Linda, at a new cafe at Nordre Frihavnsgade (Bjørklund & something!). Nice decoration with old furniture - I sat in a rebuilt childrens bed! The walls painted delicately by checkers in different shapes and sandy colours.

Still fantastic spring weather, and Linda and I just ran a 9 km run around "søerne" (the lakes) in Copenhagen. Linda pretty sure she spotted danish movie darling Sofie Lassen-Kahlke while I'm sure that I passed Sebastian Dorset, a danish stand up-comedian..... wish it was the other way round!

Ha - just realized, that I can see the current temperature just by looking out of my office window (7 deg. celsius for your info). No need to keep checking DMI then.

Another important thing also popped my mind: Tonight the danish soccer team (which qualified for this years world cup) is playing a friendly against Ireland. I have a good feeling about it - Ebbe Sand and Christian Poulsen will score, and Denmark wins 2-1! Better watch it...

The sun is shining, easter is near and I'm stuck at writing a proposition for a new business plan. Interesting, actually, but right now I'm looking forward to days of running (on my feet and on wheels), dinners with friends and family and, of course, just relaxing in the sun with a blanket and a book. Oh, by the way: I started this weblog, because I have the greatest idea. Just wait and see, it's brilliant (I rrrrrreally think so, so don't laugh for to long!).
